Berrien Elementary School will be hosting a OneBlood blood drive on Tuesday, February 28th from 12:30 to 6:00 pm.  OneBlood is a blood collection center that strives to provide safe and affordable blood to their medical partners and patients.  Their service area serves more than 200 hospitals in 72 counties, from the Florida Keys to the Panhandle and into Southern Georgia and Alabama.  Berrien County is served by the Thomasville and Douglas, Georgia centers. Hospitals in our area served by OneBlood include: Smith Northview Hospital, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Brooks County Hospital, South Georgia Medical Center and SGMC Berrien campus.

Please consider stopping by Berrien Elementary School on Tuesday, February 28th and giving a donation.  The holidays mark a time of year when there is the greatest need for blood donors. During and after the holidays, the need for blood becomes critical due to increased travel, accidents and an increased demand for blood.  There is no man-made replacement for human blood and when someone needs blood there can be no substitute. Donors may give every 56 days and double red cell donors may give every 112 days.  Please take this opportunity to make a donation that can potentially save the life of someone in need.

OneBlood will be offering a t-shirt to all successful donors of blood. Each BES student that brings in a successful adult donor will be invited to a pizza party courtesy of OneBlood.  They will be bringing two mobile collection labs, so that donor wait times will be kept to a minimum. Please call Mrs.Taylor, BES media specialist at (229) 686-6206, to make an appointment or go online to https://www.oneblooddonor.org and use sponsor code #27376  Remember that your donation of blood is truly the gift of life for patients in need!!
